What are Learning Styles?

In a world where we’re constantly exposed to the need to learn before we can thrive, the system, or the techniques that do help us to learn are the learning styles. Speaking of these styles, different experts have put forward several types. There are more than 70 different learning styles according to Vanderbilt University and several schools of thought on learning have also suggested ample distinct types of learning styles. However, the four styles captured in the VARK Model are regarded to be the most popular, and they are:

  • Kinesthetic (physical) — Those who have this learning style learn best by being physically active; doing or moving.
  • Reading/writing — Quite self-explainable, reading and writing is the best form of learning for those who have this learning style.
  • Auditory (aural) —Learners who have this learning style learn best by hearing.
  • Visual (spatial) — Learners learn best by seeing.

When you look at these styles, do you resonate with any of them? There’s a strong possibility that you will, and it’s also possible for you to have a blend of the styles.
